The best things to do in Ayia Napa, Cyprus - Nissi Beach

About Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa.

Spending time on one of the many wonderful beaches in and around Ayia Napa can be free (other than the fact you will need some sunscreen and water with you. Also, you have many to choose from. However, the most popular and famous is Nissi Beach. Check out the video below created by our sister website Share Cyprus.

About this video

August 15th is a HUGE bank holiday in Cyprus and probably the busiest day of the year at Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa because this bank holiday coincides with the height of the holiday season. It’s also a time of year when most Cypriots are on holiday and head for Ayia Napa and Protaras.

So, we decided to spend a couple of hours at Nissi Beach on August 15th to show you what it was like on this super busy day!

Even though it was jam-packed, it was still paradise, and you can see exactly why Nissi Beach has achieved blue flag status. The water is so clear and crystal clean!

Additional Information

There are some things that the video doesn’t show you.

For example, some parts of the beach are perfect for relaxing, while others are amazing for anyone looking for that “Ayia Napa party vibe”.

You’ll also notice that you don’t see dogs on this beach. That’s because dogs are not allowed (there are specially designated beaches for dogs in Ayia Napa!).

In addition, a day at Nissi Beach doesn’t need to be expensive. To start, if you go in a car, all-day parking near the beach is just €3.00. and you won’t get “ripped” off if you want to rent sun loungers and umbrellas. These are available for €2.50 each! Therefore, a couple of sun loungers and an umbrella for the day will cost just €7.50. It’s also good to know that you can pay for these in cash or with your debit card or mobile phone (if you have a payment wallet such as Apple Pay installed).

The prices are so reasonable because the local council (Ayia Napa Municipality) provides all sun loungers and umbrellas.

Finally, drinks and snacks on the beach are also reasonably priced, but there are cheaper shops, well-known local bakeries, etc., just moments from Nissi Beach if you really want to keep the costs down.
